What is Systems Thinking?

The textbook definition of a system is "an interconnected set of elements that is coherently organized in a way that achieves something" (Meadows, 2008, p. 11).

In other words, systems thinking is a way of examining the interconnections between elements. This may include both the direct and the indirect effects between the elements.
