Dr. Derrick J. Coble
Assistant Professor
North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University
Area of Expertise
Animal Genomics
STEPS Project Role
Dr. Coble's role in the STEPS project involves the development, refinement, formatting, and testing of reusable learning objects that will be implemented in CAES courses at N.C. A&T and in a Multi-Institutional STEPS Course.
Research Bio
Dr. Coble's research involves characterizing the effects of environmental stressors on physiological function in swine. More specifically, he correlates the effects of stressors on specific functions with the gene expression of metabolic and immunological tissues responsible for these functions. His research seeks to provide a platform for understanding the porcine metabolic process and stress response. Ultimately, his goals are to improve the performance and efficiency of production animals.
