STEPS Project Role
Dr. Sanders leads the Community Health and Food Systems area of the STEPS project, supporting the development of related RLOs, testing and implementing the RLOs in classrooms, and managing graduate students supported by the project.
Research Bio
Dr. Sanders' research interests include exploring stakeholder and public engagement strategies around food systems innovation, specifically genetic engineering, and its implications for science communication about food and agriculture. Her research explores how identity interacts with message acceptance in communication as well as how practitioners can use identity as an orienting concept to achieve more culturally responsive outreach through extension.
