Dr. Urriola actively conducts research in sustainable livestock systems using systems thinking models. He will assist in development, evaluation, and refinement of hypothetical case scenarios. Dr. Urriola will coordinate with instructors at the University of Minnesota in the use of Reusable Learning Objects under the guidance of Dr. Kevan Lamm.

Research Bio

Dr. Pedro E. Urriola, originally from Venezuela, has degrees in veterinary medicine and swine nutrition along with experience working in the animal nutrition industry. He currently studies livestock sustainability as a complex and dynamic system to address four major topics of sustainable livestock production: precision nutrient management, decreasing the burden of diseases, upcycling nutrients, and preventing foreign animal disease outbreaks. Dr. Urriola is coauthor in more than 90 peer-reviewed publications, two book chapters, and 6.8 million dollars in grant funding.
